Accounting & Bookkeeping — Organised Books, Reconciled Records, Monthly Reporting

TrustLedger provides Tally-based bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, and monthly P&L reporting for startups, SMEs, and growing businesses across India.

What is Accounting and Bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping is the systematic recording of every financial transaction your business makes — every invoice raised, every payment received, every expense incurred, every payment made. Accounting organises these records into meaningful summaries — Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Summary — that reflect the real financial position of your business.

Most business owners understand what they spent and earned in a rough sense. Bookkeeping converts that rough sense into a precise, verifiable, GST-ready, audit-ready record. The difference matters enormously when you need to file GST returns accurately, compute TDS correctly, apply for a bank loan, prepare for a statutory audit, or answer a query from a tax department.

Disorganised or missing books are one of the most common reasons businesses face notices, pay avoidable penalties, and lose avoidable deductions. The cost of maintaining good books is almost always less than the cost of reconstructing them in a hurry.

Who Needs Professional Bookkeeping Support?

  • Startups that have outgrown "one person manages everything" but aren't ready to hire a full-time accountant
  • Businesses with more than 20–30 transactions a month where manual tracking becomes error-prone
  • Companies preparing for a statutory audit — auditors review books, not reconstruct them
  • Businesses applying for a bank loan or overdraft — banks require audited or CA-certified financials
  • Any business that has received a GST or income tax notice and needs books in order before responding
  • SMEs where the owner wants a monthly Profit & Loss summary to make informed decisions rather than waiting for year-end

Software: We work in Tally Prime — the industry standard for Indian businesses. Your books are maintained in a format that any CA auditor can directly access and review.

Our Process

Step 1 — Onboarding: We understand your business structure, GSTIN details, chart of accounts, existing records (if any), and any specific reporting needs.

Step 2 — Monthly Data Collection: You share invoices, purchase bills, bank statements, and salary records by an agreed monthly cut-off — typically by the 7th of the following month.

Step 3 — Entry and Reconciliation: We enter all transactions, reconcile bank accounts, and flag queries on any unclear or missing items within an agreed turnaround.

Step 4 — Monthly Report Delivery: We share the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and receivables/payables summary for your review. Discrepancies are resolved promptly.

Step 5 — Year-End Closure: We prepare the finalised trial balance, depreciation working, and any other schedules needed for audit and income tax filing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My books are not maintained for the past 1–2 years. Can you help?

Yes — accounts cleanup is a service we handle. We review available records (invoices, bank statements, GST data), assess the state of existing entries, and prepare a scope and fee for reconstruction. The extent of cleanup needed affects the time and cost involved.

How do I share documents with you every month?

We accept documents in WhatsApp, email, or any shared drive — PDF invoices, scanned bills, bank statement PDFs, or Tally exports. We keep the process as simple as possible. Most clients share a monthly folder of PDFs or a batch export from their billing software.

Do I need to be on Tally already?

No — we set up the Tally file for you. If you are currently using another software (Zoho, QuickBooks, Busy), we assess what's in place and advise on the best approach.

I have a CA for the annual audit. Why do I need separate bookkeeping support?

A statutory auditor reviews books prepared by the management or their accountant — they don't routinely maintain the books themselves. Having organised, reconciled books ready before audit reduces the time your auditor needs, reduces your audit fee, and means a cleaner audit report with fewer qualifications or notes.

What happens to my books if I stop using your service?

Your Tally data file belongs to you. We provide the complete file on request at any time — you can take it to any other accountant or handle it in-house. There is no lock-in.
